Hi forum users,

I need you're help. I'm going to relocate to Miami from Rochester, NY in Dec., and I need some information about reasonable apartment in Miami. I don't want to pay more than $700 for a 1 bedroom if I can. Can anyone sent links to places that are not setup for tourist. I will appreciate all replies. I would like the city if I could.

Wow....$700 is kinda low. i pay $775 for a 1-bedroom not in the nicest condition and not in the nicest of areas (North Miami Beach....close to 826). It's not an appalling place to live...(it's a sleeper Jewish community)....but sometimes I can't believe I'm paying the money I pay to live in what feels like the projects sometimes

Have you checked out Craigslist?

Yes, I seen a lot of different price ranges from well over 1500 a month, I just don't want to keep paying these crazy high rents. I just got relocated from Vegas, and I was paying $1500/mo for a 1 bedroom in S. Las Vegas. I need to know more about the area. How safe is it? It can't be worst the Vegas.

Well I'm from a small town in PA; my view of crime is a bit warped. I've been in my apartment for 2 years, and as a single female, thank G-d...I've had no issues. I think the most precarious time was after the hurricanes Wilma & Rita & Katrina because with everyone being out of power...break-ins were at an all-time high. But I'm in a second floor apartment...so maybe I'm lucky there.

My biggest gripe is the appearance and condition of the place. My building was built in 1950s or 1960s era Miami and sort of feels like a bomb shelter or something. The windows are sort of small and are that "crank-open slat" type. I have vomit pink formica in the kitchen and bathroom. Oh, and of course the perpetual pest problem that sort of comes with the territory when you live in an older building in South Florida.

don't come in the mentality that "this place cannot be any worse than #." i guarantee you will find yourself being slapped over and over by reality.

$700 a month is going to be tough, especially is an area considered safe. Do you have transportation or will you be using public trans?

Good luck!

I hate to break the bad news to you but crime is rampant in miami (and the rest of florida for that matter) whether its before, after, or during a hurricane... dont worry though, youll soon be another cold, callous, unsympathetic miami resident just like the rest of us and not notice it.

700.00 a month is not going to happen for anything decent. I'm paying just under 1000.00 a month for an apt. that is "ok" in kendall. It's a 1/1 with under 800 sq feet, a bathroom that is the size of a closet and cabinets that are hard to look at. The carpet is run down and my bedroom size is a joke. It's clean and crime is low which is why I rent there but there's no way i'm renewing this lease.
