What is the weather like in late December?

What are some of the fun touristy things I can do there?

How is the public transportation system (bus and train)?

I'm looking for a warm get away place for a week but I'd like to do more than go to the beach all day.

What are the museums, parks, zoos, etc. like?

Are there any amusement parks there (Six Flags-esqu)?

Hurricane season will be over by this time right?

Is the ability to speak Spanish necessary (I heard it doesn't even feel like you are in America (USA) down there)?

Any other info you feel a chick traveling solo for a week should know?

Thanks!

The weather will most likely be lows around 60 and highs in the 70s. Yes, hurricane season will be over.

Miami has numerous fun attractions. Monkey Jungle, Seaquarium, Parrot Jungle Island, Gator Park with air boat rides. You can google each of these for more info. The Miami Science Museum is interesting.

Be sure to take a ride out to Key Biscayne if you rent a car (the Seaquarium is on the causeway to Key Biscayne). Crandon Park is amazing.

Plan your routes before you go, there are some very bad areas to avoid that you can learn about by reading some threads on this forum. Have a nice trip.

What is the weather like in late December? Probably not colder than 50 if it gets that low

What are some of the fun touristy things I can do there? Beach during the day, Clubbing/dancing at night, Alot of cool restaurants at the beach, Bayside bout tours around the bay, Shopping on Lincoln road

How is the public transportation system (bus and train)? Non-existent..rent a car

I'm looking for a warm get away place for a week but I'd like to do more than go to the beach all day. --- I think a week is a long time to stay here but you can check out Key West

What are the museums, parks, zoos, etc. like? The zoo sucks, check out Fairchild Tropical Gardens, Vizcaya,

Are there any amusement parks there (Six Flags-esqu)? Nope

Hurricane season will be over by this time right? Yeah

Is the ability to speak Spanish necessary (I heard it doesn't even feel like you are in America (USA) down there)? You can get buy without speaking spanish without a problem

Any other info you feel a chick traveling solo for a week should know? I'd say the common big city prevention/awareness stuff like anywhere else. Hope you have fun!!

Thanks![/quote]

Is the ability to speak Spanish necessary (I heard it doesn't even feel like you are in America (USA) down there)? Depends where you go. Stay away from Hialeah, Little Havana, and Kendall.. these places are almost strictly spanish.

How is the public transportation system (bus and train)? No good. Rent a car.

Any other info you feel a chick traveling solo for a week should know? Stay away from Downtown, especially at night. If you want to see Downtown, go during the day and stay away from Overtown.

What are some of the fun touristy things I can do there? Bayside is also pretty nice. You can take a short cruise around Star Island, and I think they have Bay tours too. Just leave before sundown, as this is right in Downtown.

Any other info you feel a chick traveling solo for a week should know? Dont stay in a hotel in mainland Miami, stay on the beach. You'll be safer and have a lot more people watching opportunities, as well as nightlife, shopping, dining and etc.

Good luck and have fun!

What is the weather like in late December? Nice. Not too humid. Low 80's during the day, low 70's at night.

What are some of the fun touristy things I can do there? Beach, beach and go to clubs.

How is the public transportation system (bus and train)? Rent a car.

I'm looking for a warm get away place for a week but I'd like to do more than go to the beach all day. Not much to do other than the beach and shopping.

What are the museums, parks, zoos, etc. like? No museums except Vizcaya, Spanish monastery. The zoo is alright. Avoid the Seaquarium, poor Lolita (a killer whale) is being abused in her small tank.

Are there any amusement parks there (Six Flags-esqu)? No such things south of Orlando.

Hurricane season will be over by this time right? YES!!

Is the ability to speak Spanish necessary (I heard it doesn't even feel like you are in America (USA) down there)? Not really. It does feel like a different country, but you will get by.

Any other info you feel a chick traveling solo for a week should know? Meet as many guys as you can! Miami was just voted the city with the most attractive people in the USA.

What are some of the fun touristy things I can do there? Stay near the coast and just start exploring, If I was you I'd take the TriRail to Fort Lauderdale if possible and explore there too. Especially the National Swimming Hall of Fame.

How is the public transportation system (bus and train)? You'd be better off shooting yourself in the legs with a M4 and trying to walk. But, the TriRail is handy if you need to move in between the counties cheaply. THAT'S IT.

I'm looking for a warm get away place for a week but I'd like to do more than go to the beach all day. Check out Sawgrass Mills in Sunrise, go shopping in Palm Beach, and live it up shopping next to the Triple A at Bayside

What are the museums, parks, zoos, etc. like? You'd be better off buying a visitors guide as soon as you arrive, or listen to someone else, I'm ignorant here.

Are there any amusement parks there (Six Flags-esqu)? There are some amusing parks, but no amusement parks come to mind, the closest thing I can think of is Boomers... And well, eh.

Hurricane season will be over by this time right? If you need a general reference just remember that warm water is needed, hence the late summer. You'll be find

Is the ability to speak Spanish necessary (I heard it doesn't even feel like you are in America (USA) down there)? Well, it certainly isn't Kansas, but you'll be fine. Heck you'll probably find the change in linguistics charming!

Any other info you feel a chick traveling solo for a week should know? Yes, purchase a water proof camera and try to go snorkeling off of Key Biscayne... Also rent a car!

Thanks! You're welcome

If you have the money and are taking a date down there i would go to Virginia Key and go eat at the "Rusty Pelican"....it is a fancy resturant on the water.......it has a beautifull view of downtown Miami.......or you could go to the Hard Rock hotel/casino in broward and hit a club up or go gambling there at the hotel......or go to a basketball game.....the planitarium "is" cool too like someone else mentioned…...or another little cool spot might be Knaus Berry Farm on Coconut Palm (Sw 248St) if they are open this time of year, that place is a cool place where they sell cinamon rolls and ice cream ect....it is like an Amish family that opens thier farm to the public which i think happens right after thanksgiving.....or check out Santa's Enchanted forrest, it is like a Christmas theme park opened in December i believe.......dont remember exactlly........hope you have a good trip just be cautious down there
