Hi Everyone , I need some information about the neighborhoods in Homestead FL. My family and I will be

moving to Homestead, FL this summer. We have read about some of the nicer neighborhoods in Homestead, FL over

the internet but those comments were at least 2 years ago . We want to know Homestead, FL resident's current

input about neighborhoods in their town . We would like to know which neighborhoods are kept up to par as far

as cleanliness, of course which neighborhoods are relatively safe (When I say safe I mean for the most part being

able to come home and relax without worrying about being robbed by my next door neighbor). We understand crime

happens everywhere in all neighborhoods that is why I said for the most part. We do have young children so safety

is definitely one of our inquiries.

Also when you name the neighborhoods could you be very specific as far as the community name, the name of the

apartment complex or townhome residential. Please include streets, avenues, parkways, highways we should or

should not avoid. How is the hospital in Homestead, FL? There is a strong possibility I will be having my baby there

this summer. We have planned for our children to attend Air Base Elementary School. If there is any input about

that school and the neighborhood we would greatly appreciate that also. Also does the Air Base Magnet school have

school bus transportation and if so how does that work as far as your kids being eligible to ride in them and where

are the school bus pick up and drop off stops (as far as the nicer neighborhood locations)? Also which parks are

safe and decent. Are there any decent public elementary schools in Homestead, FL. Before I wrap this up, here are

the neighborhoods we read were pretty safe and decent: Key Gate neighborhood (particularly Palm Breeze at Key

Gate apartments or townhomes I'm not sure), an area or community called the Redlands, I saw a townhome

residential called Villa Portofino East online, I really like the way those townhomes look online. How is that

townhome residential and it's community, is it really the way it seems ? What about Campbell Drive, I remember

reading the area around their is nice but then I read that it was not; which one is it ? Also how is the

neighborhood near Palm Drive with apartments and townhomes called Shoma Home Key Cove, Key's Landing, Garden

I and Garden II all of those apartment communities seem to be in a circle? Also I need to find a daycare for my

kids, could you please recommend some great daycare facilities in Homestead, FL. Personally ,I like the one I saw

online called Lincoln Marti. Other daycares are welcome to be recommended but could you please give me your

input about Lincoln Marti daycare, thanks .

The bigger the lot, the better the area. Period.

Thanks for responding tallrick; however I must ask, which neighborhoods or apartment complexes have the bigger lots?

The best areas are north of the city of Homestead, and either a bit east or way west. Just drive around, the good areas are easy to spot. The poor neighborhoods are stripped of trees, and generally ugly. There are a lot of new developments east of homestead like keys gate and villages of homestead, but I would avoid them because many have condo style developments- tomorrow's slums. Schools in general are not the best, due to the low income families in the area.

Okay, thanks tallrick. We'll change our direction from the east to the north of Homestead. We did not consider the north of Homestead based on our online research that suggested SE area (near Key Gate) and near the hospital were like the best neighborhoods in Homestead, FL. Thanks for pointing us in the right direction. Before I end, could you please tell me what you know about Air Base Elementary School in Homestead, FL? Again thanks tallrick.

Just two things here to point out, first is to endorse what tallrick said - in Homestead the more reasonable and nicer areas are either in the SE or in the NW end (respectively, the Keys Gate area that is, and the area way west bordering the Redlands - another area just nearby you should consider as well).

Second is something I say to everybody regarding relocation, is to check on Google (and ApartmentRatings and ApartmentReviews), and if possible to talk with neighbors when visiting a specific complex/development to avoid ending up in a rubbish complex. A friend of mine lives on one of the newer housing communities - but it is a badly managed one - located actually a bit south of the Air Base School (just east of the Turnpike near Leisure City), and she had loads of issues (her car was vandalized, there was an attempted robbery, not to mention widespread burglaries). And also I've never had anything bad from her regarding that school, I believe it's a good one.

I would probably rent in one of the bigger communities like Waterstone or Malibu Bay for a year if I was just moving here. They may be tomorrows slums but if you're just renting for a year, who cares. Also I would not look for a larger lot etc when renting, you're going to be paying for the extra space, better to just rent something smaller.
