By the way I was just in DC this past weekend and I had a blast. I found people to be different in a culture way and less materialistic.

Hi all, I'm back. I'll be moving in a couple of weeks. I am now thinking more about Aventura. Essentually, working in Miami Gardens, thinking of living in either Aventura or Miami Lakes. About how long is the commute from Aventura to Miami gardens during rush hour?

I am leaning more towards Aventura as the prices actually seem a bit lower and it is closer to the beach. It just seems like it will be more fun.

I agree with CTR -- I read your description and immediatly thought Hollywood.

You'll be fine on that income vs costs. It's easy to check realistic rental costs, just check Craigslist, the Herald or Sun-Sentinal for rental listings.

Aventura is nice, my parents and tons of friends live there. But traffic, especially in season, is terrible there.

Check out Hollywood too, just to be sure it isn't a better fit for you.

Good luck, and welcome to SoFla!

Your profile sounded like me when I moved from Texas. I was making the same around North Doral.
You will live fine. I hope you speak some spanish because you will need it.
I did moved back to Texas because got a bit tired of the traffic and how "tough" Miami life is when compared to TX. But overall you can do fine, have a good living and have a fun time in Miami.

Enjoy the weather and the overall experience!!

Thanks for the suggestions. I will look into Hollywood. From searching Craigslist Aventura and Hollywood seem a little cheaper than Miami Lakes.

My spanish is fine, I just spent 2 years on "island" so Miami will feel downright Uh-merican to me, at least for a little bit.

I forgot to mention, the numbers didn't quite add up like I would hope, but no problem. I think I will do just fine.
