Has anyone else encountered police officers breaking rules while driving? This is an often occurrence for me. For example, I was driving the speed limit while the officer next to me was going above it, and then later on today I was driving while an officer made an illegal u-turn. Plus, I always see officers switching back and fourth between lanes while not using blinkers! Why should they be able to get away with these things "just because they're officers"? Even the officers are bad drivers here

Also notice how they have a higher than normal accident rate? I am amazed how many wrecked-up police cars I see at the county service centers.

not only that. They cut off traffic using side lanes/exit lanes, they cross with red light in intersections, y'know the typical miami technique of stoping in the middle of the crossing while they have green, and when it turns red the innocent sheep look "Oh I'm in the middle, I have to cross now" Very sad how even the force is degenerated here. And there is no way to fix it because as always, THAT COMES FROM HOME LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. From great grand pa, grand pa, from dad. Not from elementary school, or from university.

Do you know if they are responding to a call or maybe saw something that you didn't. Not all calls require lights and sirens, but some do require a quick and safe response. Sometimes that will mean that we use a side lane, or use our lights to clear an intersection. An example of a call that wouldn't require an emergency (lights and siren) response is a silent hold up alarm. If you are a victim and hit your hold up button, would you want the officer sitting in bumper to bumper traffic, or would you like him to use a side lane and use his lights to clear an intersection to get to you faster? Of course some of you will answer that we should sit in traffic and abide by the laws, until you are the one being robbed and with a gun in your face. Don't automatically assume that the officer is going to the doughnut shop. There's also been plenty of times where while in route to an emergency call, we are slowed to routine and we happen to have just turned off our lights after crossing an intersection. Some people will automatically assume that we just wanted to get through the light. Of course there will be plenty of banged up cruisers. If you drive 8 hours a day in Miami traffic, you are bound to get hit or accidently hit someone. Afterall, we are only humans. I've had 3 minor wrecks in 13 years. If you like, you could sign up for a ride along at any district. Maybe you'll get a better understanding of what we do, and not be so quick to judge or criticize. That's all I will say on this topic because I'm most probably wasting my time and energy on people who don't have a clue about police work and probably just hate the police for their own reasons.(ticketed or arrested perhaps). I'm sure that you all are exceptional drivers.

Excuse me all. I have an opinion here. I want to thank this guy here for everything he does to protect me. While he might not patrol my town, it is this guy and his fellow officers that work ungodly hours in the worst conditions, with the lowest pay scale to protect me and mine. These guys/ gals are the reason why I can sleep at night. The rest of you, please continue to post all of your negative posts, because the rest of us know that's what you THRIVE on. It IS a "misery loves company" forum here and you should all be embarrassed by your behaviour. When did we as a country, decide to NOT be a free country and limit your ability to travel or move about as you see fit? Please, stop your belly-achin' azzes and move! Stop the whining, complaining, bitching, moaning, kevetching and general negativity and MOVE!
You people are ridiculous! Enough already. Start a new thread titled "Negative postings" so the rest of us that actually like it here, can steer clear of it. You invade invade every thread. It's like a cancer. You embarrass me.

Thanks FLM. It's people like you that make my job rewarding and allow me to continue on a daily basis despite all the garbage that we have to deal with.
