Some areas have ATT UVerse and most have ATT DSL.

Not much choice is there? Another reason Miami has lost its competitive edge. No Google fiber or even fixed point wireless despite all the "omgfast" cablevision commercials.

I have Comcast and my son has UVerse and his is cheaper than mine. Neither one of us has tv, just internet so I don't know if that makes a difference.

From what I've heard it depends on the area.

Absolutely... But Comcast and ATT Uverse (or DSL) are the most prolific in Dade. Satellite is almost anywhere in the US - but I find the speed and cost to be a last resort option when nothing else is available.

I know some that use 'cell' hotspots for their internet, which opens up a lot more possibilities too. Only problem with that is a lot of cell companies now eliminated unlimited data. So it goes back to either Comcast or ATT...

FWIW, There is a long range plan to eliminate ATT DSL service, so at one point you will only have ATT Uverse as the ATT option.

One thing I forgot to mention is that the City of Miami Beach offers free wifi to everyone. You just have to set up an account. Basically, the entire city is a hotspot, although the coverage isn't as great indoors. I only use it when I'm out and about (sitting in a cafe on Lincoln Rd. for example) because my condo HOA fee includes Atlantic Broadband internet & cable tv.
