Hello, my wife and I will be in Miami Beach at the end of next month. I am a photographer who loves architecture and urban landscape.. I have been doing my research on the area and of course plan to hit Vizcaya Museum & Gardens (looks awesome)! Besides the obvious beach and Art Deco shots, is there a spot that CAN'T be missed? Only there for 5 days.

Thank you!

Some awesome night views of Downtown Miami.

I know you like Urban pictures but sunset at the Everglades for a photographer. You won't be disappointed.

And Rickenbacker Causeway - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. It is a $1.75 round trip. When going back west stop on the small park area right before you hit the mainland again. Great downtown views with the water.

South Pointe Park (in South Beach) will provide very good shots of the CBD provided your camera is strong enough.

If you're Downtown, head over to Brickell and be sure to see Espirito Santo Plaza. It's one of the most recognizable buildings in Miami because it mimics the St. Louis Arch (Gateway to the west) on the buildings facade (Miami is known as the Gateway to Latin America)

If you're interested in early Miami architecture you might find the Old Post Office in Downtown to be of interest as well as the Dade County Courthouse, the Ingraham Building and the 'new' courthouse complex. Oh, and obviously Freedom Tower which was home to the newspaper the Miami Daily News & Metropolis before playing a big role during the Cuban exile.

Of newer interest may be 500 Brickell whose connector between its two towers mimics the Miami Circle. 50 Biscayne pays homage to MiMo architecture with its wavy roof.

Also, the excavation of Henry Flagler's Royal Palm Hotel is still going on Downtown. They have uncovered some fantastic artifacts (like a whole set of steps that used to lead into the hotel) and although you are fenced off from them they are still nonetheless exciting.

Oh also you will probably want to check out the Biltmore Hotel, some of the areas around Coral Gables are pretty nice.

Another great thing to do with the Camera is ride the automated people mover around downtown. Some great shots through the windows and at some of the stations. For some reason they don't like people taking pictures of the tracks though. Or maybe that is just a metrorail thing.

Also at South Pointe park if you are there on a weekend in the late afternoon early evening you get to see the cruise ships leave port.

Matheson Hammock Park is another interesting spot. Some small roads in there make you feel like you are so far from the city but if you get to the end of the roads to the coast you can see the skyline a bit away. Not sure how good your camera is but I always like shots of skylines fairly far away. It is an interesting park either way with the mangroves and some fairly quite and deserted coastline. This is also where Red Fish Grill is.
