You can feel however you want to feel, it doesn't make it an universal truth though. All in areas in Miami-Dade county are considered Miami by most of their residents and the Postal Service. That includes anything from Miami Gardens to Florida City. Of course individual neighorhoods can be very different, if you live in Gables by the Sea Your experence is gonna be culturally different than living in Liberty City, Aventura, South Beach, Florida City or Little Havana.

More White Anglos than the average neighborhood but still a small amount. And yes their are more Mexicans but still a lot of Cubans and African-Americans like the rest of Miami.

Clearly, some people back me up on this. Four people voted that South Dade (Homestead, Florida City) is separate from the Miami area. Reveal yourselves!

Homestead is Homestead. Homestead can even be seperated from the rest of "South Dade". People there know they are not in Miami. They are definitely seperate. By definition and incorporation as well as distance, demographics, etc...

Homestead is different from Miami just as Ft. Lauderdale is different and neither should be considered a part of Miami but Homestead is of course part of the same county as Miami and all 3 cities would be considered part of the South Florida Metro Area.

Other parts of South Dade, especially the unincorporated parts, would certainly consider themselves a part of "Miami" but the line is absolutely drawn at or before Homestead.

Well, they're all parts of the County - and it will be in the short and mid term; as we all know. But you're mostly right regarding the different feel of South Dade and most of its neighborhoods...definitely not your average SoFL nor Miami-Dade suburbs.

A separate "part" of So Florida? Do you mean a separate COUNTY? You're mixing up counties and cities. "Miami area"? That's just a term in your head so your entire question is a false choice LOL.

Homestead and Florida City ARE separate - they are incorporated CITIES. If they were an unincorporated CDP in the MSA, like Naranja, then you could make a case that they're "part" of Miami. But even that isn't true. Unincorporated CDPs default to belonging to the COUNTY. That's who they pay taxes to.

Yes, when you leave MIAMI, you've left MIAMI and are in another city. Homestead.

Yep, as is here (Glenvar Heights), Country Walk, a few parts of South Miami (well, what is regarded as South Miami - but isn't technically incorporated now), Richmond West, etc. etc. They're Unincorporated CDPs of Miami-Dade.

It's all the same, just some parts seem better because they are older areas without stack em and pack em planning. Almost everything developed since the 80's is crowded and unappealing. As for "Anglos" they are all around in small amounts. The poor Mexicans are easy to spot in Homestead but they are working in construction and lawn mowing all over the county. The general rule for determining an areas desireanility is to look for tree cover, the best areas have the most. If you see more roofs and streets than green, you are probably in a slum.
