I assumed it would be safe to walk between these two hotels on Brickell Ave. However, I called both hotels and asked the question and they said to "use lots of caution". I even specified day time walking. I understand it's only about 4 blocks.

Any thoughts on walking between these two hotels, first around 7:30 a.m. and again around 5 p.m. in the evening? Should I be concerned about safety?

Thanks.

I live in Brickell, it is about the safest area in the world. There is absolutely no heighten safety requirements past the normal common sense; you could actually be a total idiot and do fine. For that time of day, it is even safer. I have walked to/from work along Brickell Ave for over three years, as well as casual walks, runs, going to the grocery store, nightlife, etc.

Very safe to walk around there, the hotel people were probably worried about getting sued in the 1:1000000 case that something bad happens along those 4 blocks in the day time, or even at night. Of course keep your eyes out because you're in a city not a Disney park, but I wouldn't be concerned.

EXTREMELY safe area of town. Maybe they were talking about be careful crossing street? Miami drivers are the worst with yielding to pedestrians.

As others said, this area is very safe. Probably one of the safest in South Florida. Don't even give it a second thought, you'll be fine.

You might have to worry about a crane boom dropping on your head with all of the construction presently happening.

Original poster here, back from a week in the Brickell area, after making lots and lots of walks between the Four Seasons and JW Marriott - and even further.

This is a perfect example of me not asking the right question (to the hotels, when I called and asked about safety). After being in the area for a week, I bet they thought I was concerned about walking because of the traffic! I had no concerns like I have experienced in some other larger cities. I did find myself being super cautious and aware because of the number of very close automobile/pedestrian interactions (some because of the cars, some because walkers weren't looking). Also, there was lots of rain, adding to the problem. And, to perry who made reference to the cranes - oh, there were so many cranes! I spent lots of time looking out my hotel window, watching the buildings being built!

We had a great trip. I see why this is such a popular - and safe - place.

^Good to hear! The hotels should have elaborated on what type of safety! Just curious as to where are you from?
