why would it be? I love miami but the truth is the truth. Miami has hipsters, rasta wannabes, and the hippy psychedelic thing isnt a thing here even with stoners. Everybody in miami smokes weed but if you ask them if they are into traditional psychedelics they tell you 'i dont do drugs just weed"

There is trippy art all over the place though. Even in the ghetto. But a true scene? I dont think so. People will think you're weird. Psychedelic rock? Nope. Psytrance goa trance rave parties in a field in unincorporated miami dade? Sounds cool but not likely.

Miami is not diverse. It is just like any other city where the great majority kind of follows the same trends. I'm sure most of the world is the same.

The way some of you categorically rule out stuff is hilarious, Miami's always had an artsy crowd. Coconut Grove, Miami Beach and now the urban core; places like Wynwood, Little Haiti, Upper East Side and Downtown are thriving off the burgeoning art scene. Go hangout with some artist in their warehouses, make friends at Churchill's or Gramps. Just get out of your house.

Go to the Friends Of Nature Festival in Virginia Key:
Quote:
FONFEST aims to become the first Carbon Neutral Event to be held in the City of Miami. Created by musicians, artists, activists, scientists, and young entrepreneuers who share a common desire to save the planet and all the amazing creatures we share it with. The mission at FON is to transcend the limitations of the commonplace music festival and leave a meaningful and lasting legacy of environmentally sound concerts. What we intend to create is a veritable mecca for Art in all its forms and for people who feel passionate about it; a multitudinous celebration inclined specially to the correct and loving preservation of nature, humanity, and Earth.
Miami Beach is also still a viable alternative.

For example, California has Santa Cruz, Berkeley, Parts of Venice beach in LA. Ocean Beach in San Diego.... etc.

Does Miami or anywhere in south FL have any towns/neighborhoods like that?
Not really and thank god we dont.

Miami isn't diverse at all. Where did you get the idea that it is?

While there are neighborhoods in Miami with a funky kind of vibe to them, all those things you mentioned (hippies, surfers, environmentalists, activists, green peace types) scream WEST COAST. California, Oregon, Washington state. That's the hub of those people. Why you even consider looking for those things here of all places?

Miami is too overpriced for those types now. Maybe after the current bubble bursts the grove will return to a hippie or green kind of crowd. When the FIRE economy finally fails, I can see the area around Brickell becoming more earth friendly.
