My husband and I are in our mid to late 30's with a 1 yr child. We might be moving from NYC to Miami. After much research, we decided Brickell might make the most sense. We like to be close to everything, shops, restaurants, bars, and we may only own one car. Not to mention he will be commuting to Downtown. As much as we would have loved to be near beach it appears that is not recommended. So now I am tryintg to decide which Brickell Condo (rentals) has the best location (near grocery, coffee shops, metro mover, restaurants, etc) and reputation (nice pool, amenities, etc). I have looked on-line at 500 Brickell, Brickell on River, 1060 Brickell, Axis, and Infinity, Icon. Any thoughts? or are there others which are better? It is hard to tell from the internet versus going in person. We will be taking a trip soon just want to narrow it down if possible.

Really anything in Brickell is a good location as long as you are 13th street and north. So Infinity is the furthest south I would go if you are looking for walk distance to stuff, using the metromover etc.. Keep in mind that some of these buildings have a ton of college and grad students or just very young professionals. For a family I would not recommended 500 Brickell. It is a nice building but I have a bunch of friends you live there 22-26 years old. On the weekends parking is nuts, the lobby is busy and the hallways can get loud. So just keep that in mind when you look.

If you can afford it Icon is IMO the best building in Brickell. Also Brickell to Downtown really won't be a "commute" it will be a quick ride on the free metromover. You can also look at buildings in Downtown on Biscayne blvd. I will say Brickell is better for walking to places but downtown also has good metromover access which takes you to Brickell and you can find nicer and bigger apartments for a little bit cheaper.

Since nobody knows your requirements (beds, baths) nor your budget, it's really impossible to say. We can all name buildings but if you can't afford it, why bother?

Icon is not by a long shot. The only truly spectacular things they have going for them is a massive pool and a somewhat swanky, hip interior design.

I agree the interior design is a bit over the top. Jade Brickell it is.
