It'd be more interesting to see them chatting up a cashier. Cause I'm tired of being stuck in line behind old cubans in the express lane while they reminisce with the old cuban cashiers about how great cuba was.

No sense of urgency? I am not so sure about that. People always act like they are in a rush in Miami. Have you seen how most drive, behave in stores and in lines, and carry out their day to day activities. Miami is definitely not a laid back town.

To the OP, you must at least give us a context, because there is a sense of urgency in the following areas:

Freakin every day life, IOWs, dog eat Dog.

The traffic, folks cutting in line before you, and the aggressive nature of the city. I suspect my old area, westchester/ olypmpia heights, is worse then others because of the island mentality and the sheer number of lottery winners and the amount of folks living under one roof. Yes I am Cuban and although I understand it a bit it annoys me just the same.

In regards to metro projects, well if you are talking metro rail or any public transportation well we need federal money and it is just not coming these years. So we wait till congress and senate change hands.

In regards to individual areas, well commissioners are well entrenched and they do what is right for thier district and that might be a hindrance for the whole of Miami Dade.

Please give me a reference point and maybe I can give you a bit more, personal experience and my opinion on why it is.

That has to be it. Because this is generally true but in terms of professional life and being on the road, there is plenty of urgency in Miami.

Dude:

To understand Miami ... you must live a minumum of 1 year in Colombia or Venezuela or Peru.
Miami is 95% Latin owned and controlled ...
Miami is another country, a 3rd world country almost.
Sad ....
