I remember the first time I discovered Old Cutler and the Grove. I just left Mercy Hospital and decided to
make a left on S Bayshore drive to see where I could get on US 1 further south. Needless to say that
night I got very lost, I made a left on Main Hwy and kept making lefts that night. I remember I kept seeing
a rock wall along the road that night. The wall seemed to run forever, somehow I finally had enough of
making left turns and decided to make a right and ended up just south of kendall. This was 35 years ago,
It was a real strange ride for a teenager that night but looking back, it was pretty cool. Nothing in Miami
is like Old Cutler and the Grove, a real treasure for sure.
Old Cutler Rd. was my daily commute for some years and even though rush hour traffic was bad the scenery alone made me forget about the stress of being in bumper to bumper traffic. The atmosphere was so relaxing that I dozed off one morning and rear ended another car!
The few times that I have to visit the gables per month for business I usually take old cutler ( about five blocks away from me) to lejuene and yes traffic is pretty bad but the drive is always nice.
