My partner and I have just relocated to Doral for his job. We've found a great neighborhood we love (and can afford!) and are settling in nicely.

Except for finding a new job for myself.

We both speak English and I've only learned enough Spanish (so far) to order food. In my search thus far, it's been difficult finding jobs that Spanish is not required or "highly recommended". Prior to the move, I was working in childcare. Before that, I had various customer service/admin office jobs.

I took a job as a gymnastics teacher a few weeks before the move, which worked while I was teaching with a native Spanish speaker (there were only 3 kids who spoke English), but was impossible to conduct classes by myself due to the language barrier. Because of this, I've resigned my position and have been looking into transitioning back into an office or call center environment, but I'm running into the same issue.

1) Are there a specific area/suburb I should start looking for jobs?
2) Temp/placement agencies that staff monolinguists?
3) Specific companies to look into?
4) Any other tips/tricks I should know about living/working in Miami?

I am a MDC student (starting summer semester), so work near the Doral or downtown campus would be ideal.
I also ride public transit, so that limits the search area until I can buy a vehicle.
I am NOT a Florida native and I'm still very unfamiliar with SoFL and Miami Dade as a whole.
I do plan on taking Spanish (immersion?) classes once I can afford it.

Thanks in advance for all the help!

Try care.com for nanny jobs, usually the one place they require English and you have a background in it. Also Ikea in Doral is also hiring for thier opening in doral this June.

Good luck, I would say the public transportation thing is an even larger concern, around here employers located across from Metrorail stations and frequent bus lines still ask if you have "reliable transportation," which is code-word for "must have a car." And unfortunately, public transportation from Doral to downtown and the beaches--where it is more accepted for people to come to work via transit--might as well not exist. If moving is a possibility, I suggest looking in to South Miami, the Roads or Biscayne Blvd. which have better public transportation and are priced similar--if not a bit lower--than Doral (Doral is not cheap!).
