We are planning a trip to the Winter Music Conference in Bicentennial Park in downtown Miami in March. We are staying at the Radisson Hotel at 1601 Biscayne Blvd...only about 4 blocks away...my question is...how safe is the area around the Radisson Hotel (16th & Biscayne Blvd)?

THANKS

That area is "ok" I guess by now...it used to be a bad area, but now they are rebuilding and remodeling the whole place. There are new buildings, new pavement on streets, the new PAC (performing arts center) but the place is still quite empty. The hotel is about 1/2 mile from the winter music conference (bayfront park)

Reason we are staying in that area (16th & Biscayne)...is that a friend of our has gotten us a FREE rrom for 4 nights...and the Winter Music Conference / Ultrafest has been moved to Bicentennial Park...even closer to the Radisson Hotel we are staying at...only about 5 blocks away...cheap cab ride.

Have been to Miami many times...but usually stay up in Sunny Isles or a hotel in South Beach...but FREE is a great price.

I was in that area a few weeks ago on business. It seemed safe enough to me.

That is one thing I want to do before I leave south florida. I love house music but have not gone to the winter music fest yet. I guess I will have to wait to see if the Djs I like will be there in '08 or not. As for the area, Downtown Miami is a bit suspect to say the least.

Went last year to WMC / Ultrafest...weather did not cooperate at all...they said Friday night on a local TV station...that Saturday would have a 10% chance of rain...and in and out clouds....PERFECT....however...there were torrential downpours for at least 6hrs or so....weather was horrible......I thought it only rained like 30 minutes in Florida...then the sun was suppose to come back out...hope for better weather in March 08...March 25-30 are the dates.
