Paved lawns and burglar bars for a, um, paltry 400 grand . I think it's because those ARE cities with a high immigrant population and lower income/working class immigrants are willing to cram a few families into a house and pay the price...

^^ You could see it in many other places. Its part of the ghetto culture and while poor alot of these young guys put their priorities in cars, clothes and not their home. Its probaly more common than you think in almost every ghetto or improvished neighborhood in the country. Its almost competely ridiculous, while I was in Utah for a while we stayed in a home blocks from poverty for about two weeks before moving into our permenant home, but we would see improvished people wearing expensive shoes, listening to the newest I-pod, and driving cars tricked out in expensive stuff while living in a tiny crumbling apartment building.

I agree. That is not at all exclusive to Miami. I don't know why people on the forum make it that way.

I think it's because they're right outside of Miami. Just look the lower income immigrant neighborhoods here, the prices for the homes run around $170,000 for the same ****ty homes you'd find in Hialeah. Probably with more grass as well.

Hey can someone bring up a list of overpriced homes from say 2006-2007. The last one was hilarious. There was an older post by someone who had a bunch on cracker boxes with burglar bars and concrete lawns as well as what they were for sale for. I would try realtor.com now but the prices would not be as insane as they were a year or two ago.

Was that my post? I remember comparing crappy homes in inner-city Miami to suburban Palm Beach County and showing people how much of a better value it is here than down south.

interesting. So is Sweetwater a bad part of town?? I can relate to the people spending more to fix up their cars, and having all the latest gadgets and living in crap. It's like that in my neighborhood in Tucson. Everyone is poor, but yet they all have NICE cars and clothes. But at the same time, their all drug-dealers and gangbangers!!!

Sweetwater is less dangerous than Hialeah, but Hialeah as a whole is not considered bad for a city its size. They're not wealthy areas but they're not terrible cities either.

That was me, and that was only a month or two ago (somebody else might have too though). I posted some 400 thousand dollar cracker boxes compared to some nice 2000 square foot homes in Cooper City and Weston for the same price. Let me see what I can find right now.

people live in the hood because they like it there, a house in carol city costs the same as a house in a much better area; it's a way of life if you want to call it that.

how do i know the above? my friend lives in a pretty bad area and his rent is more or less the same as mine, and although where i live isn't great it's an improvement from where he's located
