Never questioned that it would be rejected. Before Berkowitz made his proposal public the deal was already worked out and approved. Is it a good idea, I have serious doubts. I just don't see the project meeting the projected attendance numbers and I have a feeling many of them don't believe it either.

Is it the best looking thing ever No. But it sure is unique.

I think it will do well. Every observation tower in a city that has lots of tourist I have ever been to is packed. NYC, Chicago, Tokyo Skytree, Victoria's Peak in Hong Kong, The Stratosphere in Vegas, Griffith Observatory in LA. They are all packed with tourist. I think this will do well, it is more than just a tower it has attractions and it has Bayside right there. This is a very very good thing for Bayside and its tenants.

I am excited for this but it still needs to pass a vote. I hope they actually do put out some campaign stuff and not just hope it goes alright because turnout for an August election will be very low to begin with. I will be voting yes for it. I don't see the downside of turning an empty parking lot into something that generates money.

I believe I read where gambling will be involved where not mentioned before, I'll see if I can find where I saw thar. Maybe when you lose all your money you head down that slide -looking stucture in to Biscayne Bay or take a 600-foot Bungee jump.

Well since gambling is not legal yet except for parimutal and Indian Casinos I don't see how that is the case.

And I don't see gambling legalized in the foreseeable future the opposition is too strong coming from the Native Americans and Disney.

Yea, I am glad I reread as I perused quickly first time. The article was in the Miami Forum but yet talking about the gambling aspect in South Philly.

This is just another White Elephant to add to their wealth. The name of the game is create debt, any debt - no matter how hairbrained the scheme. And since this looks like a hairpin, all the more fitting. Even if it does get built you know it will lose money and fail. leaving lenders with debt and the city responsible to clean up the mess.
