We are traveling to Hollywood/Ft. Lauderdale/Miami a couple of days after Christmas and was wondering what the water temps are like this time of year. Are you able to get in the water or is it just too cold??

I've been in Miami for quite a few years now and never tried the water at this time of the year. I gotta try it before leaving just for curiosity.

That's a great link!

The water here is SOOOO warm. I just noticed in those charts that the water temp here in the winter is still warmer than in LA during the summer! So I think that answers the OP's question. The water is still great in the winter!

Thats cause their currents come down from Alaska. I went to San Diego over the summer and the water was freezing. I'm too used to the warm waters down here to enjoy any beach in California, at least not the water. So jrut, it shouldnt be too cold now.

If the weather is OK tomorrow I will most likely go to the beach. I will let you know what the water is like.

Depending upon where you are traveling from, I think you'll find the water temp quite lovely. I live on the beach and still manage to get in almost everyday. It's about 75 degrees right now, which to me is still quite nice on a sunny day. I also moved here from Maine where the average water temp on on a hot sunny summer day in the warmest cove I could find was only 58 degrees. I swam in that too!

Default Water

We are coming from Dallas, so no real water close to us. We are looking forward to seeing our 14 month old on the beach and see how she reacts to the water hitting her feet. Thanks for all your info.
