Does anyone remember LeJeune Drive In?

I used to love it as a kid because they had a playground you could hang out in while waiting for the movie to start.

One trip in particular stands out in my memory. I was only about 6 or 7 and the movie showing was The Longest Day. I remember being bored and disappointed because about half the movie was in German with English subtitles and I couldn't read them.

Zayres officially shut closed in 1990. It had been even longer than that since the ones in Miami shut down. Jordan Marsh closed down right around the same time.

Just to name a few!

That was my Dad's Haagen Dazs! He also owned the Riviera one (next to the Movie theater) and the two (Yep, there were once TWO) in Dadeland. Later the one on Grand in Coconut Grove. He didn't own the one out by Don Carter's on Kendall, or the one north on Ludlam Wayyyy up in Miami Lakes, but of course we know the owners of them, too.

We still have the Dadeland Food Court one And one in Vail!

China Maid.

Tall, Triangular top building, later a flower shop.

Near Godfather's Pizza.

Also, to an earlier post about the Frozen Lemonade in Kennedy Park in Coconut Grove: That's AC's Icees, and AC still owns it.

Honestly, the mall is as beautiful as ever; lots of great stores and a few good places to eat.

Here are some pictures (taken by others; I found them on Google) of how it looks today:

There WAS a restaurant in the middle of the pond... NOT TGI Fridays or Los Ranchos. I remember it and had a friend who was a foodrunner there in High School. I think it started with a "P"....

And...

The "Giant" waterslides at Larry and Penny Thompson Park.

South Dixie Discount.

When Dadeland was Outdoors.

The Big Cheese... When it was ACROSS US1.

Lum's.

Chicken Unlimited.

Bowl-O-Mat by the Falls.

The Skating Rink across from The Falls.

Girl Scout and Boy Scout shop on the 3rd Floor of Burdine's in Dadeland.

Fedco Drugs

Merry GO Round for "hip" clothes in Dadeland.

Peppermint Playground for kids' clothes with the indoor carpeted playing climbing area.

The kids "Playhouse" on Kendall and 107th? Near a Sizzler? Had a birthday party there.
