I'm not saying it is, and my former comment had nothing to do with Miami. I'm just calling the author on her BS since she acts like Paris and NYC can do no wrong.

I thought we were making comparisons between NY, Paris and Miami. Not between NY and Paris. People who don't pick up after their pets are no better here than there so nothing to compare there. That's all I was saying.

How ridiculous - you only know if people are from NY if they say so. So obviously, your numbers are skewed by the fact that only 100% of the people who say they are from NY do you know are from NY. The many others you meet who are who never say anything, you never figure it out, and I guess therefore never enter your oh-so-accurate stereotype stats. Ignorant as charged. And also very negative - might I remind you that while you are complaining about strangers being critical, negative, and offensive, you are in the process of being very critical, negative, and offensive and spreading that negativity all over this forum and into our world.

Why don't you set the example that you want others to follow, and be pleasant? It is rude to slander an entire state of people simply because one person who is not even really from there wrote an article you didn't like. You don't like it when NYers do it to FL, so how about you don't do it to NYers either? Very basic rules of civility - do unto others, etc.

Skimmed the article. Won't read the 4 pages (!!!???) of responses here. NYT must really be short on material nowadays.

How about doing a poll of the most annoying transplant? I bet NY would win with flying colors. You call me ignorant. I say you are in serious denial.

Hypocrisy is something that I rally cannot stand.
It's jealousy more than hypocrisy, IMO.

At least we have a excuse! We live in the sub-tropics.
Living is the sub-tropics is an excuse for not cleaning up after your dog? I don't appreciate someone letting their dog do his business in my yard. That's pretty rude. If I want fertilizer it won't be dog crap. BTW, it's raining now, but come November the rain will be scarce and the dog crap will just sit there attracting flies. I just don't understand why someone feels it's okay to leave crap somewhere that doesn't belong to them. Same as littering. I don't understand people who just throw trash where ever. Take a little pride in your surroundings. Leave it better, not worse.

It was an overly negative article and I loathe negativity. Honestly, the thing I don't like about Miami is that it's too laid back; people stroll rather than briskly walk, etc. and it's too much for my impatient personality to deal with.

Enjoyed the article. Granted, I haven't been to Miami since I was 5.

It's an opinion piece for the Sunday Review, which is heavy on op-eds. Maybe exclusively op-eds, not entirely sure. I only read the NYT online every so often
