Coral Gables is beautiful... I've lived here for 3 years and it's awesome...

I drive to Ft Lauderdale twice a week (Cypress Creek and I-95) and it takes me about 45-1 hour if it's clear... If it's not, it can take 2 hours and I live 5 min from UM campus.

If you can handle that, then take the chance... You won't regret living in the Gables for sure.

I have a house for rent there if you are interested. PM me for info.

Be careful with Tri-Rail though. It almost always takes more time than a commute by car. The trains were rarely on time, and you will have a significant wait from Metrorail to Tri-Rail. In my case it was cheaper to drive as well. Sitting in a car with air conditioning is easier than sweating it out on a Metrorail platform for 10 minutes or the tiny Tri-Rail station in Hialeah. Oh yes and then you have to bus from the out of the way Ft Lauderdale Tri-Rail stations to your destination. Unless your job is within walking distance of the Tri-Rail forget about it. It's a shame because a ride on tri-Rail is often a very pleasant experience.

I agree. TriRail only works efficiently if the schedule meshes with the user's and the user lives/works within walking distance of the departure/destination stations.

As such, the system is largely inefficient, not because regional/local passenger rail is inefficient per se, but because the powers that be designed it to fail in the eyes of the car-driving, gaz-guzzling public, commuting from energy-guzzling dwellings to energy-guzzling offices.

Hi Spyderman,
You mentioned you have a house for rent in Coral Gables. Can you send me pictures and details regarding it as we will be moving to Miami in January. Our shipment of furniture however will take 8 weeks to arrive so I will be looking to rent in March.
thanks
