There is a female blogger from New Jersey, one of those "I'm larger-than-life-fake NYC Queen *****-so don't sass me" types who either is

a) bitching about the quality of men she meets while she posts nothing but bikini selfies and booty-shots on her facebook. She's the standard washed out middle-aged cougar that wants her prince charming but of course won't settle for an "ugly guy" i.e. any man that's not a 9 or 10.

b) bitching about Miami and how everyone here is garbage/trashy and constantly comparing it to her faux-hometown New York. This is followed by more booty selfies.

So hilarious how she absolutely hates it here and knowing her type, would never settle for somewhere "boring" like Provo, Utah or Cedar Falls, Iowa.

And then there are the others I've run into that just have a plain crappy attitude and would be miserable no matter which city they live in.

The locals here are great.....they keep to themselves and unlike transplants don't feel the need to constantly spew their worthless two cents about everything and everyone.

People are so damn spoiled and ungrateful. We have a great beach, great weather, world class amenities, decent job opportunities, low taxes, and diverse people. What freaking more do these people want? Get out of here if you can't hack it in a big city. Get out of here if you're an average joe/jane but wont accept anything less than six figures and a perfect 10 mate.

I love it here. I know its not perfect but I wouldn't live anywhere else at the moment. I take the bad with the good and roll with it.
Amen

So you don't like those Jersey Shore guido bro types that cause trouble on South Beach lol. I never would have thought that lol

Go-ghetta

I knew this barman that worked at the bar in the Omni building, he was NY Jewish and a true professional.

He always was saying...."Miami, the city that everybody wants to leave but most don't"...and that was when they opened the Omni, almost 40 years ago.

Everybody hates Miami, including Cubans at that time. Miami, comunismo con pan.

"world class amenities"..... what does that even mean?
Isn't that something a hotel would say? "we offer many world class amentities at the XYZ Hotel and Spa"

Miami is certainly not all glitz and glamour.
Downtown Brickell and Miami Beach and South Beach is not the real Miami.

Go to Hialeah....go to Kendall....go to West Chester....those areas are the real Miami.... they're pretty boring quite honestly.

HOWEVER, I wouldn't live anywhere else......
ok, well maybe broward up through Boca I'd live....But no where else.

World-class amenities: beaches, restaurants, nightlife, museums, casinos. Also plenty of educational opportunities with UM, FIU, MDC and the numerous private schools located here.

Miami has it all....you can make whatever lifestyle you want here. Quiet suburban in Kendall, party life on SoBE, upscale living in Brickell, grad student in Coconut Grove....whatever suits your tastes and income.

But with all this right at everyone's doorstep and taking full advantage of what the area has to offer, a lot of transplants would rather try to remake the city into the same boring town they ran away from and get pissed off and bitter when they fail miserably.

Good point. I should of been more specific, most American transplants don't stay in Miami for to long. Five years is usually the max. People coming from South America, Central America or the islands, yes they will stay in Miami because Miami is more like their home countries, but much safer and has better opportunities for them. For the average american, I've found Miami isn't a place they'll want to make roots.

Miami is what you make it.

I think it's a relatively expensive city to live in. While the job market is not exactly amazing, so that's not really a good combo.

I also find such a dichotomy w/ Miami of being very ugly and yet very pretty...
It's beaches are beautiful, the landscaping and tropical plants are amazing, the colorful sunsets after a thunderstorm of reds, pinks, yellows, and blues are awesome, the beautiful and peaceful intracoastal waterways are gorgi. ..... but the flatness and lack of open space is terrible. The "crowded strip" of development can seem bland and look the same from Miami up through west palm beach....again, no large areas of just open space and trees. Too many strip malls filled w/ junk.

Take Miami for what it is. It's an amazing and dynamic city, but like any other city it's not perfect.

Just stating what I've witness happen in my work environment with new people moving here. It's amazing to watch people who you would of thought would of stayed no matter what because they wanted a pool, a boat or to be near the beach. But what I've found is many people leave Miami because of better job opportunities, and all these things they moved to Miami for, really in the end weren't as important to them. Some yes have left because they just didn't understand Miamians. This just has been my experience.
