Aned, the reason why they don't clamp down on the texting and talking on the cell phone while driving is because of the large phone companies and their lobbyist. AT&T, Verizon, and the other big names in the phone business are connected to our law makers. The law makers are cautious as to not step on the toes of big business and their interests.

Eventually there will be more laws across the nation restricting cell phone use but it will take time due to the reason I have mentioned.

Many of those stop signs are in fact useful to the area residents because they deter people from speeding through their neighbourhood--safer and cuts down on noise pollution. It's not like parts of US1 or Kendall Drive have stop signs.

Default More People Driving Cars

It seems that anytime the economy improves, those without motor vehicles want to have one and often times it's about getting out of certain neighborhoods by being able to commute by auto to their jobs, and thus you end up with more and more drivers on the road.
Then you have the issue of what seems like most drivers not knowing or not paying attention to traffic laws written to protect pedestrians and bike riders so people who would prefer to walk or ride a bike somewhere end up going by auto because of drivers who don't know to yield to pedestrians and bikes in the cross walk and attempt to drive through them, mostly at stop and turn on red intersections.
I think we all know many drivers don't even bother to stop and look out for pedestrians and bike riders at intersections like they are required to do by law at these intersections and thus it makes it so dangerous for pedestrians and bikers to get around Miami-Dade, more and more people get autos as soon as they can work out a way to afford them since they have a better chance of living in an auto if they are hit by another auto than they would if they were walking or biking and hit by an auto driven by one of the drivers who don't know the traffic laws.
There's also the issue of people who don't seem to think outside of their boxes much because, although it's often more expensive to rent in areas where you can walk to work, to eat out and to go shopping and to movies such as on South Beach, when you figure in what you pay to own an auto in monthly car payments, monthly insurance payments, gasoline and auto maintenance, it' more often less expensive to live in a more urbanized area where you can walk or bike everywhere and don't have to put all that money into keeping and running an auto and living where most of your free time is spent driving from place to place.
