Maybe Ft. Lauderdale and West Palm being just a little further north than Miami, makes it more likely that the cold fronts that move SE across the US will make it far enough south to affect ( however slightly) Ft. Lauderdale and especially WPB and make their weather a little cooler, but the cold fronts don't quite dip down far enough south to affect Miami. Just speculating on that one.

I'm over here in SW Florida- Punta Gorda, which looks to me to be on approximately the same latitude as Palm Beach County. It seems to me that the night temperatures are generally lower here- sometimes by 5-10 degrees, than they are in Miami, but especially in the summer, it's warmer here during the day than it is in Miami. Miami seems to have less fluctuation in the temperatures from day to night than we do here. Perhaps the proximity of the Gulf Stream has something to do with that?

The farther south, the warmer it is when it comes to cold fronts.

If you go inland, it is always cooler. The trick is to get as far from the ocean as possible. If you go to the East Everglades, where a friend lives it is usually 10 degrees cooler than Miami itself. Where I live, in Hendry county it is cooler than anywhere else in south Florida because we get direct air flow from the north without passing over a hotter ocean.

^^^ I thought that only applied in the winter. It is true that in the winter months it gets colder inland than near the coast. West Kendall and Redland have experienced freezes while the coastal parts like Miami Beach, Key Biscayne, Coconut Grove and Coral Gables haven't. But I have always thought that summers here were less hot than in inland areas of Florida because of the coastal breezes.

Too much hot air. Miami is overcrowded and it's residents like to talk and shout. Many do it in more than one language.

It also happens in the summer but only after the sun goes down. Land gives up heat faster than water, and the difference of temperature can cause a breeze that is opposite of that during the day. My new home since 2010 is west of lake Okeechobee and while it gets hot during the day, it is usually HOTTER when I am driving around Miami. Asphalt and buildings absorb a lot more heat than swamps, cow pastures, citrus and sugar cane. Millions of air conditioners pumping out heat and thousands of automobiles packed on overcrowded roads don't help either.
