Property taxes in Miami are higher than in most places.

Heck in Northwest Atlanta, I-75 (with no tolls) is a whopping 12 lanes (6 lanes each way) and it still gets backed up almost 25 miles away from the city!

The truth of the matter is that too many people are using the highway. The best way to reduce demand and ease congestion, like what most "Global Cities" do (which everyone bashes Miami for NOT being), is congestion tolling. Since everyone here thinks traffic is a nightmare, you would think this is a good thing that tolling would remove drivers from the road; but nope one thing with a portion of Miami residents is they will never be happy or satisfied no matter what the city tries to do to move forward.

No one in Florida is paying "substantial taxes" since we lack an income tax. No, your sales and property taxes don't count since you would pay those in most states anyways in addition to an income tax, so no Florida resident really has a leg to stand on saying they are being overburdened with taxes. Plus no one is forcing you to pay the toll, just don't use the highway!
Yea I agree I tell you I'm so sick and tired of people whining and complaining about this and that. We have no income tax which really does take away a burden on a lot of people who otherwise could not afford to live here. People who believe moving to Texas or Florida is going to be cheaper are sadly mistaken when they find the government for making it up in other ways. I bet the only people complaining are fiscal conservatives which I hate bringing politics in it but those are the biggest whiners. Miami Dade really needs to start investing in its public transit system which is not that bad but could be better of course.

Literally. Instead of knives and guns they use scanners.

The tolls are ridiculous. We have the most disgusting traffic and drivers and on top of that we have to pay tolls every 0.5 miles? Good grief.

We are becoming a favela, not a world city with all these taxes and corruption.

In my humble two cents worth opinion Miami is one huge Septic Tank chock full of rude and obnoxious self entitled 3rd world immigrants and they deserve whatever happens to them. Honestly and I feel bad saying this but I would not mind if a Cat 5 leveled all of Miami because re-building that sh*thole is not a bad idea.

These are usually the same people that b*tch, moan, and complain about bad traffic and lack of transit followed by a generic "Miami is a third-world banana republic blah blah blah" diatribe.....

On one hand, I do see a need to make sure that tolls collected are actually being spent on roadway improvement and expanding transit options, and not bloated "administrative" salaries at the MDX. Transparency and sunshine is something we should all fight for given government's inherently corrupt nature,
but please at least offer some sort of substantive argument/alternative proposal besides "Waahh, I hate tolls because they take my money and btw I hate Miami"
Ill considered assumptions like this is what poison any possible attempt at intelligent communication here on CD.

The Cat 5 solution is something that many of us support. A nuclear strike would be fine as well.

Aren't all the toll booths being eliminated.

Intelligent communication? Meaning telling everyone to "bend over" at new tolls or calling for nuclear strikes and hurricanes to wipe out the city?

I'm just calling out the irrational hatred and personal biases against the city that get passed off as "truth" or "facts"
