I agree its suicide. Miami drivers are ranked the worst in the world up there with Baghdad and Mexico City drivers its that bad

It is not that bad here and I have been overseas where it is worse and folks here complaining would crap in their pants at the stuff that is allowed overseas.

My husband commutes from downtown Fort Lauderdale to Miami (Brickell, Coral Gables, and Doral) every day. It definitely diminishes his quality of life.

Oveido, like places on the West Coast of FL are good if you are very risk-averse, which is why people who like to play it safe live there. I agree--too boring. One of the biggest differences I notice is that people in Miami understand that not everyone likes Miami and may not want to live there. But people in the risk-averse more conservative places cannot understand why people do not want to live where they do.

I've lived and driven in both Miami and the west coast. The west coast is just as aggravating in its own way. People there also hog the left lane on the interstate, do not signal for turns and are massively inconsiderate of other drivers. They are all the same, but drive faster in SE Florida.

Not sure where you mean by 'overseas' but I think people drive very well in Europe compared to the US. They may drive fast, but they obey the rules of the road and know how to drive. They require more educational driving courses as well.

LOL, my cousin lives in Europe and always complains how bad the drivers in Spain are. Then he came to Miami last April and said Miami wins the bad driver award. He said the same thing, european drivers may drive fast, but they follow the law, he said Miami drivers don't follow the laws.

It's my belief that the roads of South Florida themselves contribute to poor driving skills of lifetime/longtime residents. All the roads down here are flat and straight, there's no opportunity for someone to get proficient at turning and controlling their cars in turns. You drive straight, then make a 90 degree left turn, drive straight some more and make a 90 degree right turn.
If you want to get good at driving, you need to drive on roads that challenge you to become better. South Florida roads only challenge your ability to stay awake.
