Today the Venetian Causeway eastbound drawbridge got stuck, so the MacArthur got severely backed up. Like Memorial Day weekend backed up. Just wait until the work on the west Venetian causeway bridge begins. Or when (not if...WHEN) the MacArthur gets shut down due to a deferred maintenance issue!!!

Public transportation should be an alternative to dealing with traffic. Not the busiest corridors from downtown to Aventura being shut down because a single bridge gets stuck. Today's rush hour bus disaster begs for BayLink to be built NOW. The studies have all been done multiple times over, and the conclusion is what everybody knows--we need it NOW. Then people can actually get home from work at a consistent time, or get to a second evening job on time, or not miss a flight at the airport.

Er...no. Hence I was able to avoid the worse of it.

At any rate, you shouldn't have to check Google Maps if you're riding mass transit a few miles within the city. It is the very point of having mass transit! In world class cities a draw bridge malfunction doesn't shut down the busiest transit corridors. The effect should be the same as the effect of a fender bender on a side road that doesn't have ramps on to the highway--it should be completely irrelevant.
