The mall seems dead now since there's been stores opening for a while and closing and never coming back. The early 2000's the mall was quite good but now most of the stores back then closed for good. Can anyone give a brief history of the mall's heyday back then? would be interesting to hear about it.

I used to hang out at Midway Mall during my high school years (1972-1974) because my best friend worked at National Shirt Shops there. We also used to hang out and play pinball in the arcade there. In fact, we'd drive over there from South Miami High sometimes and play pinball during our lunch period.

Here's a nice brief little history of the mall and its tenants back then:

It's crazy that the mall had great stores back then and now most of them closed. What was the arcade's name you used to hang out? I know there was one called Fun-O-Rama then that closed. There's also another arcade that opened after Fun-O-Rama called Final Round but that closed as well. I read there was supposed to tear down the old AMC theater last November to make way for a new Costco but i they haven't for some reason

It's being allowed to fail so they can tear it down and build some new mall or condo projects. I remember going to Richards department store there as a kid and seeing Pong for the first time. Also remember the escalators ad JB hunter which could accommodate shopping carts. Mom would always complain when we walked by the smoky bingo hall and we would go to Woolco for deals.
