I was looking forward to attending the Internet Telephony show at the Convention center, but as usual Miami-Dade County disappointed me. After driving for over 2 hours from my home, I arrived at the MBCC to find that there was NO PLACE open for parking! There were hundreds of empty spaces, but every lot says "lot full". The other amazing thing is how ugly the area has become. All the way down Alton Rd I saw run-down buildings, potholes, trash, homeless people, an abandoned hospital, and there was trash floating in that canal next to the convention center. It really is a shame that Miami-Dade County does not have a useable convention center. At least I learned my lesson, don't bother to go there anymore.

I long for my childhood days of being able to watch Ringling Brothers and Championship Wrestling from Florida in those buildings! It was an event back in the day to go the Convention Center and yes, the area around it is different than back then.

I even remember seeing the General Lee at the World of Wheels there. It really is amazing how much worse that area gets every decade. Thanks for reminding me about the wrestling, I had forgotten about it!

You should see the john in that place. No stall doors, no toilet seats, broken tiles, it's obscene, like it's been abandoned for years. Broward convention center is cute/nice layout and the 17th street area is nice looking but it's too small or else I would imagine it would be stealing more business away. Well, that's why O-Town is the convention capital of the state I guess.
