I know "everyone's rude and no one speaks english" but are there different types of people in Miami BESIDES the senior citizens, typical Latino mami and papi, wannabes, and the poor.

Do you see like large groups of HIPPIES or the Indy Rock crowd?, Fashionistas (like you would in NYC), or the Preppy crowd.

I know this is a generally question........but I ask becasue if you go to other large cities you TYPICALLY have areas in the city that that different types of people. Like in NYC in SOHO you have the fashion, yuppie crowd, in the meat packing district you have the homosexuals, in brooklyn you might find the hippy crowd etc.

Does Miami have parts like this or is everyone a illegal latino immigrant???

Especially in NW Broward. They have whole robbery teams sitting at every Publix in Coral Springs. Criminals. Criminals. Criminals.

Wow. I started a trend .

Really though, you definitely have different areas for different people. If you go into sections of North Miami Beach, you can encounter a sizable hidden "chinatown" that seemingly nobody knows. In Miami Beach, the gay community flourishes as do many Europeans, Italians in particular. Also notable is the very large Israeli community there. Little Havana is self explanatory. There is an area called "Sweetwater" where many Nicaraguans have settled. You can see the high-fashion crowd strolling Miracle Mile in Coral Gables. A preppy crowd also definitely exists around there. And if you head north into Broward County, it's an eccentric, sometimes awkward, other times very functional mix of almost any type of person.

Well, Trader Joes has hit the most bland of suburban strip malls, but unfortunately, Florida is still without one .

To a large degree, yes, Miami is very much separated by race as well as economic class. If you want to just go and hear a rock band and hang out with an unpretentious, very mixed crowd you can find that along the broadwalk in Hollywood beach. I would say that area (including downtown Hollywood) is probably the closest thing to that funky, eccentric neighborhood that's half grit, half something else. Yes there are rude people there but in a way it kind of adds to the funk. Although really South Florida isn't the place to be seeking that hippie vibe, that strip has a lot of potential to develop into that. And they DO have an organic farmers market.

But it's still no Williamsburg NYC. Not even close.
