I'm relocating to Miami Beach next week and I called my insurance company (nationwide) to quote my premiums for S. FL. Well in short, I had to contact an agency in FL due to licensing issues.

I pay $99 a month for 50k/100k/50k with 50k/100k uninsured motorist in VA

For same covered in S. FL. I pay $215 per month!! I'm 25 years old with no tickets, no accidents, no claims on a car worth about $15,000 and paid for (2002 subaru WRX)

Am I getting screwed or is this normal FL rates? Why is collision $300 more every 6months than comprehensive? I figured comp would be more due to natural disasters. It seems the disaster for auto insurance is OTHER DRIVERS raising collision prices!!

That sounds about right. I'm pretty sure I paid more than that, in constant dollars, when I was 25 years old. Remember, 1/3 of drivers here have no insurance or are driving with a suspended license or never had a license to begin with. If any of thsoe people hit you they are unlikely to stick around for the police. You are paying for their bad behavior.
