Hi!
I am a 21 year old looking for a hotel to stay in when traveling down to Miami in the beginning of May. I will be going there with my boyfriend so we are looking for a great night life spot but somewhere that we could relax on the beach. This doesn't have to be anything crazy maybe just some nice chill beach bars(lacking in any history of violence) I was hoping someone could let me know of any hotels in the area. A hotel with a great bar would be excellent. I have researched shepards beach resort yet some say the drinks can get pricey. So basically...cheap(without the cockroaches),chill, beachfront ....help!please!

How much are you looking to spend a night? Do you want to stay in SoBe? All drinks are going to be pricey on the beach (8-12 bucks each). If you're looking to save money on drinks and stay in SoBe you're better off warming up in the hotel room and stocking up at the liquor store before going out.

Hmmm...I'm unaware that "cheap" can be put in the same sentence with "South Beach". You're looking at $200/night for a 1 or 2 star hotel on South Beach...probably not waterfront either...and probably not with a good bar in it. There are some decent neighborhood bars though that aren't quite AS pricey (Playwright Pub at 13th & Washington is one). South Beach is tons of fun and the beaches are beautiful...you can party like crazy until 8am (probably later!) but you'd better bring a fat wad of cash...cover charges to the popular clubs are typically around $30 (just to get in--IF you're even let in--and after waiting 2 hours in line). Unless of course you "know somebody"...
