Hi everyone,

I am a 21 y.o. female looking to move to the Miami area. I need to find a place that will be safe and affordable. I am trying to stay in the budget of the $ 600's for a 1bd/ba or studio, but I'm not finding anything in this range on the net. The place does not have to be in Miami, but in close proximity as I will need to drive there often for work. Will this budget be doable for the area?

Thanks so much in advance!

Maybe in Podunk USA there is something for $600, but not in Miami or a lot of other places for that matter!

You might be able to find a very small studio in Miami beach, like 200 SF.

$600 isn't going to get you much in a safe area. You might be able to find a small studio in South Beach. I agree it is best to start looking for a roommate.

Unlikely you'll find an apt just for yourself with that budget, unless you don't mind living in the hood. I've seen rents of around 650 in North Miami, Opa-Locka, etc. Not the greatest areas, but if you come from a big city, you're streetsmart and are familiar with what the hood is like, it could possibly be do-able.

you might be able to find a room for rent in a private home, those are usually in residential areas and can actually be nice. i've seen ads for this arrangement on Craigslist and the classifieds.

I agree that sharing an apt with a roomate is your best bet, with that budget.
