And I showed you it can be done 2 hours flat, 600mph is not an uncommon speed either for jetliners to cruise at. With a good tail wind, some can do 700 or 750mph like the 777. Are you disagreeing that it's possible to fly from Bogota to Miami in 2 hours?

I never said FLL was not an option but it still a good 20 miles north of MIA and therefore less convenient. But whatever you say SDPMiami...
Oh now you're being catty because you're wrong. If someone wanted a 100$ RT ticket, they'd fly out of FLL, depending on where you live in Miami, FLL could be even more convenient than MIA.

So what are you saying, we can't include flights out of FLL?

-You can take a weekend cruise to the Bahamas. Think of it a Las Vegas casino on the sea dropping you off a tropical island, and getting you back by Monday. Leave Friday come back Monday morning.
-You can take a high speed boat to Havana, Cuba in about 4-5 hours (you can fly to, in about 30 minutes).
-You can fly to Colombia and back (Bogota, Medellin and Cali are bit more expensive) for under 100 USD, the flight takes about 2 hours.
-You can drive to Key West in about 3 hours.
-You can drive to Orlando in about 3.5 hours, America's finest amusement park city.
-You can fly to Mexico City (DF) and back for under 200 USD, flight takes about 3 hours. Flights from LAX (considered to be closer and better connected to Mexico) are about the same in cost and duration.
-You can fly to Sao Paulo for about 550USD, the flight takes about 7-8 hours which isn't that convenient, it's still a lot better than other US locals.
-You can fly to Moscow for under 550USD, flight takes 10-11 hours.
-You can fly to NYC for under 200USD, in about 2 hours.
-You can fly to Barbados for under 300USD (one of my favorite islands, invented rum), flight takes about 3 hours.

And many more.

What's with Moscow, why do you want to go there ?

I love Moscow, great party city in the summer. Winter too, just tell locals you're from Miami, and you're pretty much an instant celebrity at the bars

Aeroflot is also quite a comfortable airline.

So if you take a *mountain* bike to be able to ride these trails, what are you going to call your bike?

Ha, I should use that line, "I'm from Miami" next time I go back there.

I actually grew up in Moscow, left for USA in 1990 when I was 19.

Depends where you live in Miami. FLL could be a near identical drive. It's also trivial, the airports are so close.

don't these same activities cost a fair amount anywhere anyway? IMO you have to pay if you want to play anywhere.

Have you been back?

Probably back in 1990 Moscow was a tough place to be, now it's quite nice. Sheremetyevo is one of the nicest airports I have flown in. And overall it seems living standards are fairly high these days in Russia, Moscow at least. I notice a steep drop in standards just going over to the second biggest city, St. Petersburg (the airport looks very outdated for example).

Most of the items I mentioned, and that was a VERY short list of awesome things in Miami, were cheap or free. I made a point of mentioning items that an average person can afford to do, many of which you can do if you are flat broke.

But it is a more relaxed airport, so it is probably more convenient in the end.
