Hi All,

I've posted a few times here as I get opinions on neighborhoods to move to. I'm a single/hetero male in my 30s that will be working in Brickell. I've thought about Brickell but might not want to be so close to work and while I'm in Miami, thought I should live on the beach for once in my life.

I've been looking at Surfside and I know it's beloved my locals. But I'm wondering how the scene is for singles. I'm not looking for a noisy/club atmosphere like SoBe but not a snoozy place either.

Are there a lot of restaurants, lounges and other places to gather, eat and drink in this area? Is it more like Bal Harbour with older/retirees? Thanks, I'll be visiting soon but wanted some info before.

I'm a big believer in playing at the beach and living inland. If you want a water view, why not opt for Edgwater? Easy commute to Brickell, fast trip to the beach in the evening or on weekends.

There's a bunch of new condos being built, but I'd suggest buying a unit in the Charter Club, spending the money to redo it to your taste and saving a ton of money over the long haul.

I passed through Edgewater and was not impressed...seemed a bit gritty and restaurants/lounges didn't seem to be in immediate walking distance. I'll take another look though.

I would not recommend a Surfside to Brickell commute at all, and it's really not *that* active at night. The part of the Beach above Lincoln Road up to about 30th could work, since you're still walking distance to most stuff but it's a world apart from the tourist/club stuff. Actually, there's a nice boardwalk/beach walk that goes down to Lincoln Road and Ocean Drive areas--great for running. And more oceanfront options as well. Look in to Pinetree/Flamingo Dr. as well. West Ave. and the Sunset Harbor neighborhood are also solid options that are pretty insulated from the craziness (well, except for The Flamingo), though it's quite a bit further from the sand.
