Literally it means to start a machine but it really means "go ahead" "hit it" "let's go" It's from the verb "dar" Like "to give".

Also means that the other person is agreement with you. "¿Quieres ir a la playa hoy?" (want to go to the beach today?), "¡Dale!" (sure!).

The expression is particularly popular among the Southern South-Americans such as Argentinians or Uruguayans.

That's not true. There are tons of Hispanics in nice neighborhoods in south Florida.

And now I know what it means! Thanks! I tried figuring it out using context clues, but now I think I finally understand.

Broward is the way to go. Hollywood or Miramar. Sounds like town house or condo range though for the nice parts of said areas.

Fun fact, Russians have a similar slang called Davai.

I haven't looked into if those are related (since it's Cuban slang, it could have been introduced into Cuba through the USSR)

Yes, Davai=Dale=Arranca
Stoi=Para

In Cuba is "start up"...a car...that later generalized to "go ahead".
For example, when a Lada stalls and people push...then people say "dale" (start up) when the car has enough speed.
There are many people that studied in Russian and in Russia, but the influence has vanished except for cartoons.

Very helpful! The example using a car is great
