This is the way I see it. Miami public schools, you've got some of the country's best and some of the worst.

Best schools:
-MAST
-DASH
-Miami Palmetto SHS
-Miami Coral Reef SHS

Worst:
-Eddison SHS
-Booker T. Washington SHS

Some like DASH and MAST were ranked #8 and in the teens by U.S. News for 2008.

Before moving here in 2004, I thought all schools were either public or private. I had no idea there were several different categories of public school such as charter, magnet, etc. My good friend went to DASH, Design and Art..something in the design district. He was truly a prodigy from birth, and not all are blessed with that level of intelligence. Are there no means of addresing the unique needs of students in the same grade within the walls on one single school? I see there are schools in Miami for dumb kids, smart ones, creative ones, black ones, and ninos that cant speak English. That in itself characterizes not only the problem with the county school system, but the county itself is segregated, divided, compartmentalized, and definately not diverse from a bloc to bloc standpoint.

Every school system is going to have magnet and/or charter schools not really the purposes you say for but more practical ones. And no school is built for blacks its just the neighborhood its in, stuff you would find anywhere in this country, and unless its a private school theres no school thats just for spanish speakers. Also what school is for dumb kids? Alot of normal public schools also have special programs for all kind of kids beyond the normal curriculum.
