I stayed in Brickell last year and thought it was generally a nice area. However, it seems the area could have used a few pocket parks to add green space to the canyon of high-rises.

Also, what about along Biscayne Bay? As I recall, there was no public promenade along the Biscayne Bay waterfront? Just a few areas with a very narrow sidewalk but other parts of the waterfront were private/blocked off to the public.

Are there any parks in Brickell or any additional ones in the planning? I recall a small green space (Brickell Park) but that was about it.

Again, a nice area but it would an even nicer area if Miami planners had the vision years ago to create a public promenade (even if only 15 feet wide) along the waterfront.

There's a vision, but not that much execution.

The problem is that due to the incredibly mild winters, Miami is a magnet for bums and any public space quickly attracts them.

Actually we have a couple of parks including Southside park. Only brickell and downtown resident really know about them though (hidden) beautiful parks.

There are a few green areas, but some are not "parks" in that sense. Southside, but everyone I know that wants to do "park stuff", goes to Kennedy in Coconut Grove.

I agree about the bums hanging out, it got real bad at Bayside, but I guess they cleared them out? At night you could not even go on any green area, it was like a camp site for homeless, but I have not encountered that recently, but have not been around there at night recently.

I was against any park when some group brought it up for one of the vacant lots in Brickell. I was only for it if there was a guarantee it would not be a homeless magnet, and no one could think of a legally enforceable plan that would keep them out.

^Thanks for all the replies. Did not know about Southside Park. I actually stayed at a hotel a few blocks from there when I was in Miami last year.

Southside had been closed for over 2 years because of soil contamination. It reopened a few months ago

This is one reason I live in Miami Beach instead of Brickell. Miami Beach has miles of oceanfront promanade vs. a few blocks of narrow bay front sidewalks in Brickell. As far as I can see it is all talk and there has been zero on-the-ground progress in the past decade towards getting anything done. However, being able to bike or walk or run from downtown and Brickell to the Rickenbacker Causeway in a car free environment would make me move across the bay in a heartbeat.

I still don't understand why there is no gate to enter the park DIRECT from the Metrorail/Metromover station or from the new apartments on the south side of the park. Takes away from it's potential as a CITY park for sure.
