Since you have that many guests I'm sure you can book a great deal at the local hot spot "Hard Rock Hotel and Casino". I believe females can get into the nite clubs at age 18. Your hand is stamped at the door so bartenders know not to serve you. (that is "IF" you want to go dancing). Beaches are a 10 minute drive, (or maybe the hardrock will shuttle you to the beach!) Sawgrass Mills mall is about 15 minutes in the other direction - it's the largest outlet mall in the World. Lots and lots and lots of shopping, movies, restraunts. Come on down! You'll have a ball! Don't forget to take an airboat ride in the everglades! FUN! You can spot some alligators, and ask for the driver "Clint". He's awesome! He likes to go real fast and spin around in circles! Plus he knows all about the gators, and plants, and birds (fun educational stuff)! Then for more fun go down to Riverwalk in downtown Fort Lauderdale and hit the restraunts, IMAX theater, Science Museum, (more fun educational stuff), and if you're LUCKY - there might be a really good show at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. (Beautiful Venue - with all sorts of great performances- Musicians, Off Broadway Plays, Comedy, Magic Shows etc.) Oh, oh... don't forget to grab some water taxis and tour the intercoastal to view all the cool mansions you can dream about living in someday after your college loans are paid off! The Miami Metro zoo is fun, and Parrot Jungle in Miami - make sure you go to the shows! At the end of the show with the jungle animals, you can hold tiny little baby animals such as orangutang, tiger, etc. and have your pics taken)! Totally cool! Lots more stuff to do! You'll need more than a week! Come on down, you'll be glad you did! Snorkeling, parasailing, shelling, fishing, horsebackriding, ....the list goes on and on!

You know, helpful verses critical? Might be a nice change for the Miami forum.
Nobody was critical. (Edited to add-yes some were critical but I wasn't trying to be critical, just realistic about what young adults might consider fun)

When young adults want FUN it often involves drinking, at least it did when I was 18. I was trying to give the OP information about the businesses down here so that if drinking was on the agenda (which I don't think is the worst thing in the world) they would know that it's not that easy to drink down here if you are under 21. What I suggested was that IF drinking is on the agenda that she try an area where it is legal. That's not critical. I don't think it's bad for young people to want to drink when they go away. It's better if they go somewhere that it's not a crime.

WE DEF. WANT TO GO TO FLORIDA AND IF YOU THINK THAT MIAMI IS TOO EXPENSIVE OR DOESN"T ENTERTAIN OUR AGE GROUP COULD YOU PLEASE SUGGEST SOMEWHERE ELSE IN FLORIDA PLEASE AND THANKS! thanks to everyone who had something positive too!
When I was 18 FUN involved drinking!!!!

The problem you will have is that you are all to young to rent a car. Public transportation is pitiful around here.

If you want to lay on the beach and shop you should stay somewhere in Miami Beach or Fort Lauderdale. Call around-it's slow here in the summer. You may have trouble getting in clubs.

Default Critical???

Advising the OP that the possibility of renting a car might not be an option for someone her age was CRITICAL?

Advising her about the cost of cabs was CRITICAL?

Also, when one hears the word 'clubs', it usually implies drinking.

BTW- I too as most other young adults was drinking at 18- it however was legal age at the time.

Did anyone see the horrific shooting last night in lovely Tenn????

Well, I'm going to have to say you all have muchos cohones,,,

I recommend sending a DM to Markablue, //www.city-data.com/forum/members/markablue-4.html I think that if a few posters wrote a complaint, we could perhaps get something done about this...I for one think the moderator is good intentioned, but we could use a resident moderator...

Thank you compelled...I will make a complaint. I also feel a resident Moderator who doesn't have any hidden agenda ( as a mortgage loan officer)as well would do this site more justice and we can also do without the constant patronizing and condesending attitude towards Florida. I have read many of her Tenn. thread comments and there is alot of constant negative comments about Florida and how happy she is to no longer live there or not to have to raise her kids in such a horrible state. I am happy she doesn't live here any longer and has found such happiness in tenn but I feel she is abusing her "power" and trust of a proper moderator and needs to be accountable. Thanks again.

What about one of the islands around here like the Bahamas? I think their unoffical slogan is "Like Florida except everyone speaks English"

you can rent a car under 21 but you need to go through a lesser known company. EZ rental I believe its called. Lots of cheap places to stay in the
ghetto. I honestly do not see why people come here just to sit in the sun and burn themselves. That is not fun it is painful.

Orlando is fun!
