What I would do is just live in a condo in Brickell and walk or take the Metromover or trolley to work and drive in the evening/weekends. Road rage and traffic violence are no joke around here.

You can find houses under $2500 in North Miami and Biscayne Park. They won't be huge but sufficient for what the OP requires. The homes in most parts of NMB are actually more expensive to rent.


I agree with your second point though, OP should just rent something around Downtown or Brickell, avoiding traffic is key and a lot of those buildings offer tons of amenities.
