Going south from Kendall all they have do is a light rail system down to Cutler Bay maybe Homestead if the
demand is there. It would be much cheaper than extending metro rail south of Kendall.

FYI, the extension to Miami Beach is around $600M which is less than 3 years of PTP transit tax money if used properly, but more like 20 years if it is misused at the current rate. Tell the Mayor to use our $250M of PTP sales taxes as it was intended to be used!

I've been saying that for years as well...some sort of rail from the airport to the Beach would be amazing..even if it was just a stop in Mid Beach..its very easy to get to South Beach from there.

With so many people relocating to Miami recently and all the great events we have, we need to do something to get these cars off the road..

This plan, in particular, the connection from downtown to SoBe has been talked about for almost 17 years and still nada. This is just a pipe dream, the city can't even do anything right when it comes to transportation. They should've worked on expansions one by one first, then develop the city but nope... ass backwards, typical. Also, ridership is very low compared to other cities, so will this expansion be economically feasible?

Miami-Dade now plans Personal Rapid Transit for Beach link - Miami Today

Sorry for posting this link again. Just seems maybe better suited for this thread than the other one.

From the article:
Quote:
Mr. Suarez said he will have a sunshine meeting with Commission Chairman Esteban Bovo Jr. next to have a more “in-depth dialogue” and discuss next steps.
Apparently there is no concrete plan, but still a bunch of talk. It is a promising idea; I like this quote:

Quote:
“The future of transit isn’t mass transit,” said Mayor Carlos Giménez, “it’s PRT.”
... PRT meaning technology-based Personal Rapid Transit, and hopefully they'll ditch the SMART plan which is actually a stupid plan.

We'll see if there is a preponderance of support for concrete implementation of PRT, but there are detractors against any plan when it comes to spending public money.
