stopped by and spoke with some employees....looks like they are anticipating a mid April opening, awaiting permit approval.

Really like what I saw. I am used to luxury cinemas having moved from CA where there were a couple of other Mexican based high end chains--Cinepolis and The Lot....CMX will have the same reclining leather chairs and waiter/waitress service but what is really cool is (1) their chairs will have a USB port so you can recharge your phone while watching the movie and (2) they will have an app so that you can order food from your seat and phone and not have to wait for a waiter to come around to take your order....they also will have 2 bar areas with big, split screen TV's where you can hang out at and watch sporting events either before or after the movie or even if you decide not to catch a movie.

Jesus, luxury cinemas? haha, people are gonna be glued to their phones rather than watching the movie. Can't imagine how much this is gonna cost too.

I feel like phone chargers and app ordering would encourage people to use their phones during the movie (my biggest pet peeve when it comes to theaters)

Just as an Fyi - - - there is a Cinepolis theater at CoCoWalk in Coconut Grove, but it's an older facility converted from an earlier AMC multiplex. It's the closest movie to our house and the one we usually go to when we stay there. However, Brickell City Centre is about the same distance so I'm looking forward to the opening of the CMX there.

We're currently at our condo and usually walk over to the O Cinema when we're here (which we did last night to see The Sense of an Ending) or head down to Lincoln Road to the Regal, which also has a couple of "luxury" theaters within its facility. It has a separate admission area, bar, and outdoor balcony sitting area, as well as reclining seats and food and drink delivery in the theaters.

I've heard great things as well, but I'm sure it'll be pricey. Probably $25-$30 for a ticket?

They opened a luxury theatre near me in North Miami Beach in the Duffys plaza. Tickets there are $20+ and have waiter/waitress service, reserved seating, etc.

Problem is, I can't remember the last movie I saw that I thought was worth $20-$30. I guess its more for date nights and such.

Yup, I was going to mention this. I haven't been there but I live close to it, my GF and I always plan to go but always end up doing something else. The seats get taken very quickly because it's so limited though. There's also a nice little lounge right next to it.

forgot to ask what the prices were.....would not shock me if they were north of $20 each--though I just checked pricing for Cinepolis Coconut Grove and tix per person are a 'reasonable' $12.50 plus a 1.50 booking fee (that's actually not bad)....for perspective, Cinepolis Del Mar (CA) charges $ 25.50 plus a $1.75 booking fee for their adult tickets.

I'm a little concerned about excessive cell phone use myself...theatre reps did say security would come around and enforce a no phone call during movie if they receive a complaint...faster solution might be a solid kick to the chair if the person in front of me does this.

I'm not sure how it is now, but last time I was at Cinepolis in the Grove (about a year ago) it wasn't like your typical "luxury" theater and it didn't have the recliner seats with service. It was just like a normal theater except with more comfortable seats, nothing really special about it. This maybe why the tickets seem reasonable in comparison.

There is also a CineBistro in Dolphin Mall which maybe a little cheaper than iPic, prices there are around $16-$17 for tickets on the weekend.

Go to Cinemark and you'll know why. I think all Cinemark's updated their seats. The one in Orlando has giant reclining sofa chairs with assigned seating all for the price of like $9. LOVE IT
