If its Carnival HQ in Doral, than Doral would be an option as well. Sure its predominantly Hispanic, but it has good schools and nice homes in the $500k-$600k range.
True that. Somehow Doral slipped my mind, but it is a perfect location if the job is at the Carnival HQ by Doral.

Depends on the neighborhood in Davie in regards to schools. Some of the far west areas of Davie utilize Country Isles for elementary (in Weston) and Indian Ridge for middle (rated a 9) plus Western for High. It's a great district. It's the acreage area just south of 14th Street and far west in Davie up to Flamingo.

There are quite a few houses in the non-gated communities under $600k on 1 acre lots. It's a great spot. Very accessible to the Carnival offices off I75.

It's perfect proximity to work, it's imperfect because you would be living in.... bleh... Doral.....

The drive from Weston is well worth it.

Ok, thanks. I'll look at Davie also. I got discouraged after seeing some of the school ratings. I'll just be sure to double check which district we are in.

Hopefully your husband lands the job!

While I know everyone here likes to complain about Doral, I've lived and worked here for years, and much of the bad reputation is undeserved. There are basically no homes here with a half acre yard, but particularly when you look at neighborhoods in Doral Park, you can have a very nice lifestyle and eliminate an awful commute for your husband.

All of our public schools are highly rated, and there are many great charter schools as well.

Yes, the majority of people here speak Spanish.. but there are enough English speakers around that it's not a problem. While I speak Spanish, I have plenty of friends who don't.

Doral does not fit with "small town feel" or "big 1/2 acre lots". That would be west Davie. Natural reserves, tons of parks, childrens museums, several farmers markets with activities, etc. etc. We love all the farms, horses, goats, and semi-rural feel to it. It's far more family friendly than Doral will ever be - especially for someone looking for a smaller town feel and larger lot. With the new express lanes opening on I75, the drive to Carnival is very doable and well worth it for the children and family to have a better lifestyle. My wife used to work in the area and the drive was perfectly fine from Davie and it's only getting faster with the express lanes. She had coworkers who gladly drove from Fort Lauderdale all the way out there every day. From Davie/Weston, it's pretty fast.
