The difference is the irony is completely lost on you. It sounds like this is a discussion about lack of professionalism not whether using a bad word in an everyday conversation is appropriate or reasonable. The only time you should use a profanity with a customer is when you know that customer well enough to speak with them in a casual manner and even then it should be a private conversation.
