I honestly think it'll shift East again (right down the middle of FL), judging on how one day is more East, one day more West etc...

Just last week Sunday, us here in Texas were dealing with our own hurricane issues, so strong experience of the worries, pain, and back-breaking clean-up is present.

Let's hope those strong South Florida building codes hold up. I wish nothing but the best for you all.

Irma = 400% larger than Harvey

Pretty much the only good news is that there is no atmospheric blocking (and so won't have rain-bands training over the same areas like Harvey). But with the size and power of the storm, combined with that path, devastation is still imminent.

It will hopefully re-curve east enough that there is no landfall. If it does head west, it can weaken only if it goes over the mountainous terrain of Cuba.

I just wanted to say that the people of Florida are in my prayers.. The devastation that may ensue will be heartbreaking to all Americans, including myself. I have one friend in Miami area right now hunkering down with his wife, baby and little dog. He is a native Miami person and his whole family have refused to leave, even though I tried to convince him otherwise. I'm worried for him and praying for his safety and his family.

I have found the Miami Herald to be the best hurricane resource I have found so far on the web, with up to the date information about water, gas and emergency related information. As well, they have an up to the hour tracking of the hurricane.. If you want to see the current position of Hurricane Irma you can go to this link here.

I just wanted to chime in.

This is my first hurricane besides Mathew. My family and everyone I'm friends with here is pretty much on the beach or in a storm surge zones so we evacuated to central alabama.

Traffic was bad but we made it and gas was available along the turnpike.

Fingers crossed that south Florida gets spared.
