I also never knew that and Iwas born here (before the 70's, just barely).
I remember when the department sortres in Dadeland had restaurants inside. I remember when they had those large metal animal statues that the kids climbed all over. I guess it was already enclosed by the first time I went there. I wonder why they never added a movie theater to that mall. When the Dadeland theater across the street closed down it left a void in that area. I wish AMC would put in a theater there.

If you mean Sunset Place, that's a lost cause. Crowded, no parking and overpriced. I liked it better when it was the Holsum bakery with the 50's style outlet store on 57ave. I was actually happy to see the "bakery center" that replaced it demolished in the 90's. The current shopping center is doomed to fail as well.

No joke bro. I don't see how they're not. Friendly, well dressed, etc. I don't see any problems.

You must have made it out there on an off day,I would put Dolphin mall near the bottom of malls with "High Class"people.

Can you explain what is so bad about them? I really don't get it, every time I've been there the people have been friendly and well-dressed...

Dolphin Mall just attracts a teeny bopper crowd....and of course the local residents from West Miami Dade. So it isn't what most people would consider high class people. Like Bal Harbour, Merrick Place, The Falls, etc.

It is almost like someone saying that Sawgrass attracts high class people, it's like WTF??? I mean it is OK, but not high class. Same with Dolphin. It is outlet shopping in an environment painted in psychodelic and hypnotic colors. Doesn't exactly attract the high life.

I don't know what you consider "classy". I'd imagine you'd consider Paris Hilton classy. I don't. I'm basing it off of the factors I mentioned.

In my view Sawgrass attracts people from all over while the Dolphin Mall is mostly just the Doral and surrounding areas. The two malls are unique from each other in my opinion.

^^ I would think Dolphin brings people from all over Dade and even SWestern portions of Broward, hey even a Palm Beach resident goes. lol
Dolphin Mall is actually building a hotel on their massive parking lot so its sort of becoming a destination. Last time I went in December there were tourists from London.
