If there's any lesson, it is do NOT let Wynwood become just another mall with large parking structures. Keep Wynwood weird!

Wynwood isn't "weird" anymore, it became another tourist trap sadly. It won't become another mall but it lost its character.

I don't think Wynwood is a tourist trap. Wynwood may draw the type of tourist who's visited Miami several times over the years and is looking for something new, but I don't think that's the average tourist to Miami. Wynwood may be gentrified, but I don't see it as any more of a tourist trap than Bushwick.

Bushwick actually has character and a soul, Wynwood doesn't have it, unfortunately. I was there two nights ago visiting my friends in Miami and they say the same thing. They work in Wynwood and agree that it's lost some of its soul, unfortunately, but hey! maybe whatever new "hip" hood will happen will actually develop slowly and actually build up an image and soul properly.

Yeah, I definitely don't see a lot of bags.

But when they built Mall of Millenia in South Orlando, the same thing was said. Who's buying LV, Tiffany, etc. in South Orlando ? lots of reports of window shoppers and how well the Macy's was doing. but many years later, its still going strong and then IKEA got built next door, etc.

I think BCC has a way to go but will eventually catch on, especially now that a lot of the construction is wrapping up from this cycle.

I went today and had lunch at La Centrale. That cafe definitely seemed busy enough. I also think Saks has it's customer base and will do fine. Probably 30% of the other businesses will be less successful. It's just hard to pay high rent and get enough buying customers in the door. But others will come in and fill their places.

When items on sale at some stores are $150...

Reminds me when I worked at the WFC in NYC, and ripped my pants, and someone said "hey, go get a new pair on sale at Barney's". The cheapest pair of pants on sale I could find there were $150. And they didn't even last very long.
