I think the closest neighborhood you will find with that price range is Clewiston.

Where that poster is getting at is that your budget is absolutely ridiculous. It’s almost comical you think you can live by the beach in one of the most expensive cities in the country for $1200. I pay $950 for a ROOM.

And what has the realtor told you so far?

I just did a search, in all of Miami Beach (including Normandy) there are 40+ 1 bedrooms up to $1250/month.

Prices have come down about 10% since last year and about 15% overall since 2015. I think these prices (barring of course newly renovated buildings, areas that just finished construction like Sunset Harbour, etc.) are what the market should be right now.

None were 1000 sq ft though, most were 500-600 sq ft but there were some at 750-850 sq ft (in Normandy or like 73rd & Harding, up in that area).

Try North Beach and the areas in North Miami and North Miami Beach east of Biscayne. You'd be close to the beach and you might find something in that price range.
