….in 1912!!

Miami's police chief proposed a 12 mile an hour speed limit on city streets.

"No more speeding on the highways in the city of Miami," said the chief.

According to a story in the Aug. 10, 1912 issue of the Miami Daily Metropolis, the police chief told his officers to arrest any violator "whether white or black, rich or poor.

"Further," the paper reported, "it will make no difference whether the person afflicted with the speed mania rides a second hand bicycle or whether he propels a 40-horsepower $5,000 touring car..."

I found the above on an interesting blog called Miami Archives. Here's a link to the above post, which also contains a photo of the entire news article.

The Miami Chief of Police would croak today if he was in The Hammocks with the back streets at 35 mph limit and IDIOTS doinn 60 MPH.

Where are the few Cops left ??? Probably at Sergio's at London Square, because they NO longer populate the Dunkinn Donuts in S Fla.

Speed limits in Miami and Dade county is a joke , who is the Police Chief kidding, I'm doing 75 mph on the
the Highways and I get cars blow right by me doing 90+ mph on a regular basis. This has been out of control
for many years so now your going to crack down on speeders. Speeding is a way of life down here now good
luck putting that genie back in the bottle.

You might want to try reading the OP again.

Here's a little hint for you: Pay particular attention to the year being referenced. (Not to mention the speed limit proposed.)
