Your political correctness is noted, but please realize that you are posting in the Miami Florida forum.

In Florida and ESPECIALLY IN SOUTH FLORIDA, many (not all but many) Asians still refer to themselves as Orientals AND they name their markets and businesses as such.

Now go back to Bethesda and your pink ***** hats.

Most tourist only visit Miami Beach side or get on a cruise to leave to the Islands anyways. But to say I am not visiting a town cause a lot of people don't speak English is stupid too.

I would HIGHLY recommend that the Jews, Blacks, Whites, Asians and any other non-Hispanics living in South Florida start becoming proficient in Spanish like yesterday. If you are not going to learn Spanish, you do not belong in South Florida. If you do not speak Spanish, you will be at a tremendous disadvantage in South Florida. Sad but true. If you don't like it, please feel free to move! I did!

They call their products oriental, not themselves, thus oriental market.

Asians in Florida are not some kind of specific breed that have an specific southern colloquial idiom that they live by.

Funny that in S America ALL Arabs (No matter where they come from...) are called TURCOS ... And they couldn't care less !!!! As FAR as they Land in a Country that WELCOMES them in..Which of course is always that.

Orientals ALL named CHINOS, same scenario as before.

Dude, I'm part Chinese too and never heard of the term unless referring to a product.

Classy Hialeah! I'm not surprised stuff like this still happens in SoBe. Job discrimination for not being/speaking Spanish, not getting service for not speaking Spanish (as above) or when at work getting complaints against you for not speaking Spanish. I'm sure this will eventually change, but to others saying that this never happens in SoBe are in fantasy land.
